Zusammenfassung: | Bop began in afterhours clubs in New York where some of the most important bop innovators, such as alto saxophonist Charlie Parker, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, and pianist Thelonious Monk, played a more complex, solo-driven form of jazz. Weather Report, led by Josef Zawinul and Wayne Shorter; Return to Forever, led by Chick Corea; the Mahavishnu Orchestra, led by John McLaughlin; and The Headhunters, led by Herbie Hancock, were some of the most influential of these groups. All Rise (2001), a twelve-movement work scored for orchestra, big band, chorus, and vocal soloists, exemplifies his continued growth as a composer. |
