Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208. Ship design and construction are complex processes, requiring collaboration between multiple disciplines. Professionals from different fields need to communicate in real time and solve problems through concerted efforts. This paper begins with a brief overview of the collaborative design system (CDS) for ships, and then sets up a CDS for shipbuilding projects based on the relevant theories. Next, the overall framework, login mode, access control, data storage, and main design of the proposed CDS were detailed one by one. The analysis shows that the proposed CDS enhances the manageability and flexibility of the ship design, reduces the design cycle, and enhances the design efficiency.
