Zusammenfassung:In terms of population affinities, eiders breeding in Labrador are thought to over winter in Atlantic Canada and the Northeastern US. In 1998, the Canadian Wildlife Service in conjunction with the Labrador Inuit Association (LIA), initiated surveys on the Labrador coast to collect information to estimate breeding eider population trends. Here, Chaulk et al explore these surveys, which were initiated in anticipation of the finalization of the LIA land claims, subsequent establishment of the Nunatsiavut land claim area and creation of natural resource co-management boards.
