ECONOMIC REFORM, OPEN DOOR AND THE RISE OF PROVINCIAL POWER
The evolution of central-provincial relations in China should be treated as part of the social changes in the post-Mao era. New political and social conditions since 1976 have made the decline of the center a natural result of decentralization.
