Zusammenfassung:A study shows a wide variation in the persistence rates for within-industry profit differences. Thus, earlier studies that estimated one rate of persistence of total profitability for all firms were misleadingly taking the average of a wide spectrum of rates. For the estimates of this study, the range of industry-level convergence rates goes from nearly zero to total convergence of abnormal profits within one year.
