Zusammenfassung:The article discusses the key aspects of the psychology of peacemaking after the Troubles in Northern Ireland. These dimensions of the process include discussion of the frame, empathic listening, transforming humiliation, and good leadership. The article places particular emphasis on the role of John, Lord Alderdice, who as leader of the newly created Assembly by the Good Friday Agreement helped implement the complicated political arrangements established by the agreement. The article concludes that if the contentious parties in Northern Ireland could make peace, anyone can with the will and some luck.
