Zusammenfassung:The 1:1 alternating copolymer poly(3-nitrobenzylidene-1-naphthylamine-co-methacrylic acid) [abbreviated poly(NBNA-co-MAA)] was synthesized using the Schiff base, 3-nitrobenzylidene-1-naphthylamine and methacrylic acid in nitrogen atmosphere. The copolymer was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and 1H NMR spectrum. Molecular weight of synthesized copolymer was established by gel permeation chromatography. The intrinsic viscosity of alternating copolymer was discussed. Metal-polymer complexes obtained by treating Cu(II) and Ni(II) acetate with copolymer were characterized by analytical, molar conductance, Infrared, electronic spectra, magnetic measurements, ESR, thermal studies, catalytic activity and XRD. The morphology of the synthesized compounds were studied using SEM.
