Zusammenfassung:It is believed that there is usually time for precipitation to form and remove the liquid water from the clouds before the cloudy updrafts reach middle to upper levels of the troposphere in many regions of the Tropics where cumulus cloud bases are often relatively near the surface. Studying such regions, and to measure liquid water and ice particles in tropical cumuli, Stith et al encounter chain aggregates of individual ice crystals in colder regions.
