Surrounded by ocean, a world apart...the experience of elder women living alone

The purpose of this phenomenological study was to discover, describe, and understand the lived experience of some of Maine's most isolated elder women, those living alone on islands off the coast. Nine women, age 80 and older, were interviewed.
