Zusammenfassung:In this research, the attenuation of gamma rays for different materials was studied. Some composite materials, which have desirable properties by workers in different fields especially shielding, have been used. Polyethylene (P.E.) was used as the base material and (BH3O3),(CaSO6H4),(Bi2GeO3) as reinforcement materials with various concentrations (10,20,30,40 and 50) wt% at different energies (0.5,1,2,3,4 and 5)MeV.Through this research we study the total attenuation coefficient (µ), effective atomic number Zeff and half thickness.Through the study we note that the Zeff and linear attenuation coefficient(µ) rise with rising concentration of reinforcement materials, while the half thickness reduce by rising the concentration of reinforcement materials. As a result, the linear attenuation coefficient (µ) and Zeff reduce by rising the energy of the gamma rays, While the Half value layer increases with energy. Total linear attenuation coefficient (µ) was calculated by theprogram Xcom.
