Differential effects of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist in cytokine- and endotoxin-treated rats

The metabolic effects of interleukin (IL)-1 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were examined in rats during a fed state provided by continuous intravenous feeding for 20 hours. Zusammenfassung:The metabolic effects of interleukin (IL)-1 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were examined in rats during a fed state provided by continuous intravenous feeding for 20 hours. Results showed that during feeding IL-1 is responsible for the increase in glucose flux and plasma insulin, the development of insulin resistance, and plasma zinc depression during condition mimicking sepsis and injury.
