Is diuretic therapy associated with an increased risk of colon cancer?

Several studies have suggested that long-term diuretic therapy may be associated with an increased risk of renal cell carcinoma. Although renal cell carcinoma is uncommon, it may share risk factors with colon cancer, suggesting that the two malignancies may have similar carcinogenic mechanisms.
