A compartmental model of 3-methylhistidine metabolism in humans
Urinary 3-methylhistidine (3MH) excretion has been suggested as a noninvasive in vivo marker of muscle protein breakdown, but such analysis needs quantitative collection of urine and offers few details about the metabolism of 3MH. Zusammenfassung: | Urinary 3-methylhistidine (3MH) excretion has been suggested as a noninvasive in vivo marker of muscle protein breakdown, but such analysis needs quantitative collection of urine and offers few details about the metabolism of 3MH. It is suggested that data from a single bolus tracer and serial blood samples over 72 hours can be described by a kinetic model that defines 3MH metabolism in humans. |
