Zusammenfassung: | With decreasing the testing temperature, a TiZr-based metallic glass (MG) shows obvious increments in yield strengths, tension-compression strength asymmetry, and deviations of shear-fracture-angle, implying that the MG displays increased resistance to plastic shearing but decreased critical stress for brittle normal fracture. These results well explain the ductile-to-brittle transition of MGs caused by low temperature. Besides, the low-temperature failure criterion was established and applied to various other MGs. It is demonstrated that the MGs with lower Poisson's ratio may be more sensitive to suffer low-temperature induced brittle fracture. |
