Zusammenfassung: | Based on the American Diabetes Association, approximately 30.3 million individuals in the US have diabetes mellitus (DM), which is equivalent to 94% of the population. Diabetes mellitus is prevalent among the general population, defined as age 65 years or older. In 2015, it was estimated that approximately 25.2% of the general population had diagnosed and undiagnosed DM; the prevalence of DM among this specific population has slightly increased from 11.8 million in 2012 to 12 million for the year 2015. |
