Zusammenfassung:Analysis of ballistic impact areas in fiberglass / polyester multi-panel composites aims to obtain a more reliable armor composite material as a protector needed by the military and in accordance with the National Institute of Justice Standard. This multi-panel composite is made of E-Glass woven roving as reinforcement, BQTN 157 unsaturated polyester resin as a matrix. Each panel consists of 7 pieces of S-Glass WR with a thickness of 5 mm. Ballistic testing is done by varying the number of panels, consisting of 3 variations, namely: variation-1 (bi-panel), variation-2 (three-panel), and variation-3 (four-panel). Ballistic tests use FN 9 mm caliber ammunition pistols with a speed of 380 m/s. Characterization was carried out by bending and tensile tests after the panel underwent a ballistic test. Of all the variations, the bullet projectiles were held in the second panel after the first panel was broken. The second, third and fourth panels have various damage areas. The optimum ballistic capability is found in the bi-panel.
