Zusammenfassung:The results of a 2002 survey suggested that the management style of head nurses was oriented towards maintenance rather than recreation, focusing more on the 'doing' and the here-and-now aspects of the job rather than on leading, planning, and proactive problem-solving.5 This was because a large proportion of their time was spent time in clinical practice; fewer of their working hours were spent in co-ordinating care, operating the unit's functions and leading staff.
