Predictors of progression of native coronary narrowings to total occlusion after coronary artery bypass grafting

We studied the angiographic and clinical characteristics of coronary lesions that underwent bypass surgery to determine predictors of progression to total occlusion. Severity and length of stenosis, lack of calcium, and younger patient age independently predicted total occlusion of native vessels after bypass surgery; these may be important considerations when deciding the initial mode of revascularization.
