Zusammenfassung:This study addresses the question of whether a higher susceptibility to the adverse effects of diabetes can explain the higher hospital mortality of young and middle-aged women compared with men. Younger women had a higher hospital mortality than men, irrespective of diabetes status: effect modification due to diabetes did not play a role in the higher short-term mortality risk of young and middle-aged women compared with men.
