Zusammenfassung:To examine the influence of a motoneuron in maintaining the phenotype of the muscle fibers it innervates, myosin heavy chain expression, succinate dehydrogenase activity and cross-sectional area of a sample of fibers belonging to a motor unit were examined in the cat tibialis anterior six months after the nerve branches innervating the anterior compartment were cut and sutured to the point of entry into the muscle.
