Red-cockaded woodpecker cavity excavation in seedtree-shelterwood stands in the Wakulla (Apalachicola National Forest, Florida) sub-population

A study uncovered clear evidence of red-cockaded woodpecker preference to nest in seedtree-shelterwood (s-s) stands. Strategically located and properly installed s-s harvests could promote recovery of these woodpeckers on the Wakulla Ranger District in Florida's Apalachicola National Forest.
