Potential Indices of Mallard and Wood Duck Abundance in Forested Wetlands during Winter

Forested wetlands are important migrational and wintering habitats for both mallards amd wood ducks, but there have been no easy ways to estimate the use of these wetlands by either species. An attempt to evaluate the potential utility of flying-duck counts at dusk and aerial surveys is presented.
