Zusammenfassung:•A Java web application based MDSplus data analysis and real-time monitoring system for EAST is presented.•The application is composed of three modules: data visualization, data monitoring and offline data analysis.•Several new algorithms are embedded in the system to calculate the AC loss and electromagnetic loads of the EAST magnets. The Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) Device has been in operation since 2006. The convenient real-time data monitoring and analysis tools are very important for engineering and physicists’ experts to observe the operational status of the device during the experiment. This paper presents a new Java web application that creates a system combining signal real-time monitoring and EAST magnets stability judgment by writing Java Server Pages (JSP) and JavaScript code. The application is composed of three modules: data visualization, data monitoring and offline data analysis. The data visualization and monitoring modules are Java-based open source architecture and Highcharts display module, whose data is obtained from MDSplus. Several new algorithms are embedded in the system to calculate the alternating current (AC) loss of the superconducting poloidal field (PF) coils and evaluate the electromagnetic (EM) loads of the EAST magnets. In these algorithms, the EM loads and AC loss can be obtained by a linear transform of given currents using the pre-computed interaction matrix. The system is successfully applied on EAST experiment.
