Armalcolite in crustal paragneiss xenoliths, central Mexico

Aluminous armalcolite has been found in two sillimanite-bearing xenoliths that were recently exhumed from the lower crust of central Mexico. This Mexican occurrence is unusual because the majority of terrestrial, armalcolite-type minerals reported thus far have been found in volcanic rocks.
