Zusammenfassung: | The changed environment within communities and the demands required of community leaders imply that no one individual, agency, or organization possesses all the knowledge, skills, or resources necessary to undertake the complex issue of economic development. To take full advantage of all community resources, leadership must be shared among individuals and organizations must work together to direct the future of the community - a community coalition for economic development. A coalition brings together the public and private sectors, and both are critical to long-term economic development. There are 4 key elements to building an effective economic development coalition: 1. building a coalition among diverse interests, 2. creating a vision for the long-term future of the community, 3. planning for action, and 4. managing for success. To build a community coalition, attention must be given to the human aspect of development in addition to the technical considerations. |
