Zusammenfassung:Seasonal visitors within a region can exert both positive and negative influences upon communities. Northern Arizona, which has long served as a vacation spot, experiences seasonal visitors. A study was undertaken to determine the number of seasonal residents inhabiting the region during the 1987 calendar year, focusing on those visitors using overnight accommodations and their effects on the region. There were 4 categories of visitors: 1. those owning 2nd homes in the area, 2. those staying in motels, lodges, cabins, and resorts, 3. overnight campers, and 4. children's camp attendees and their visitors. The results indicate that the number of seasonal visitors varies considerably with the seasons, as well as on weekdays as compared with weekends. The summer season is the most popular with visitors, and the winter season is the least popular.
