Holding the Tension of Opposites: Counselors’ Experiences of the Therapeutic Internalization Process

Professional counselors engage in meaningful relationships with their clients over time. In this narrative inquiry, the author explores the experiences of 2 licensed professional counselors who developed meaningful connections with their clients outside of or between their counseling sessions. Three narrative threads were identified. Implications for professional counselors are discussed.
