Zusammenfassung:[...]treating other exposures as confounders is not only potentially inappropriate, but also detrimental to certain types of athletes who are able to tolerate greater or lesser amounts of the training load stimulus. Primarily related to management of training loads in uninjured athletes, the literature has been filled with debates considering the nuances of derived workload variables (e.g. the best way to calculate an acute chronic workload ratio) to complex systems approaches to workload. [...]risks associated with the use each of these approaches will be discussed, and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of athlete monitoring will be provided.
