Portal GLP-1 administration in rats augments the insulin response to glucose via neuronal mechanisms
Balkan and Li hypothesize that the hepatic portal system may constitute one site of GLP-1 action. They investigate whether an indirect mechanism triggered in the hepatoportal circulatory system may be involved in the stimulation of insulin secretion by endogenously secreted GLP-1.
