Selective breeding for diet-induced obesity and resistance in Sprague-Dawley rats

Researchers selectively bred Sprague-Dawley rats for high and low weight gainers after two weeks on a high fat and energy diet. Diet-induced obesity and diet resistant traits in the outbred Sprague-Dawley population appear to be due to a polygenic pattern of inheritance.
