Mechanisms of proximal proton secretion in BBM of herbivorous, omnivorous, and carnivorous species

A study was conducted to compare the proton secretions by the proximal brush-border membrane in omnivores (human, pig, rat), carnivores (dog), and herbivores (rabbit, hamster). Data show significant differences in acid transport mechanisms among the different species.
