Zusammenfassung:An abstract of a study evaluating the prevalence and relationship of food security, dietary choices, and health status within the Butte County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in California is presented. This cross-sectional study included 155 postpartum non-lactating female participants, recruited after their scheduled WIC appointment from the two main WIC clinics in Butte County CA. The results suggest that food insecurity is a significant factor associated with decreased general and mental health and vegetable consumption among Butte County WIC participants.
