Metabolism of erythropoietin in conscious pregnant rats

A study was conducted to determine whether increased serum erythropoietin (EPO) in rat gestation is due to decreased metabolic clearance or to increased metabolic production of the hormone. Elevated EPO in rat gestation is secondary to increased biosynthesis and not to decreased metabolic clearance.
