United States Relations with South Africa: A Critical Overview from the Colonial Period to the Present

Ironically, in a misguided effort to streamline the text the author coins a number of acronyms and abbreviations never before seen by this reviewer (e.g., BTSI [behind the scenes interventions]; DEMCAP [Democratic Capitalism]; CNEL [Carnegie NonEuropean Library]; PASA [Post-apartheid South Africa]; SAMING [South African Minority Government] and others that already are in use but with different meanings, for examples CCNY [Carnegie Corporation of New York] and BLT [Black Liberation Theology]). Shorn of detail, we have here a toned-down Marxist exegesis on U.S. and South African minority governmental efforts to maintain the status quo by shoring up and spreading the grip of capitalist production and racist exclusivity in the face of native vulnerabilities and working class resistance.
