Ruggeri examined, in the anesthetized rat, the effects of microiontophoretically applied muscimol and baclofen, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)A and GABAB agonists, respectively, on the spontaneous discharge of a selected population of nucleus tractus solitarii baroreceptive neurons.
