Enantiomeric dissection of the effects of the inotropic agent, EMD 53998, in single cardiac myocytes

It was ascertained whether the effect of EMD 53998 mediated through PDE III inhibition from that obtained via increased myofilament responsiveness to a calcium ion could be stereo-selectively separated by employing its optical enantiomers, the positive EMD 57033 and the negative EMD 57439. In intact...

Zusammenfassung:It was ascertained whether the effect of EMD 53998 mediated through PDE III inhibition from that obtained via increased myofilament responsiveness to a calcium ion could be stereo-selectively separated by employing its optical enantiomers, the positive EMD 57033 and the negative EMD 57439. In intact cells, the positive inotropic effect of EMD 53998 is due to specific properties of its enantiomers.
