Zusammenfassung: | This collection of papers presented at a 1985 conference on work stress and the role of the health care delivery system held at the University of Texas, Arlington, largely is a disappointment. The editors tell us in their introduction that the collection is about research, prevention, and therapy as they pertain to work stress. Then, they go on to characterize many preventive and therapeutic interventions in use as 'quick fixes' not based on research evidence. This introduction led us to expect that subsequent papers would describe workplace interventions firmly grounded in sound theory and research. As we indicated, our expectation generally went unmet as we plowed through one paper after another. |
