Zusammenfassung:The present paper deals with a computational study of slot jet impingement heat transfer using WALE SGS LES and SST SAS k-ω turbulence models for a small nozzle to plate spacing. Computational results of mean and r.m.s fluctuations in the streamwise velocity were compared with the reported experimental results. Further, heat transfer results generated in the present paper using LES and SAS simulations were compared with the reported experimental data. Both the models predicted a secondary peak in Nusselt number profile in accordance with the reported experimental data. The present results of flow and heat transfer properties matched well with the experimental data but the LES results were in better agreement compared to those using the SST SAS k-ω turbulence model. However, the latter model provided reasonably accurate results compared to those by RANS models. LES results showed generation of vortical structures and these were studied. The presence of flow acceleration and bi-dimensional and confined structures in the region of secondary peak in Nu profile were correlated.
