As the physical, social, and psychological "home away from home" for most children and adolescents, schools should assume a leadership role in substance abuse prevention, identification, intervention, and referral. Furthermore, schools are encouraged to develop comprehensive policies to ensure that they are free of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. |
