The Absent Presence: Enduring Images of Jews in United States Military History

The persistence of anti-Semitism in the US Army, like most of US society and government, was, of course, a given. Images of Jews as existentially different, inherently problematic (sometimes sinister) beings had highly significant consequences when individual officers and the military institutionally became involved in political affairs related to the Jewish question at home and abroad.
