Zusammenfassung:•Low-temperature curing PES coatings (LTCC-PES) have been successfully fabricated by introducing crosslinking agent.•Compared with the common neat epoxy coatings, LTCC-PES displays higher anti-corrosion properties.•The incorporation of PTFE reduces the defects within LTCC-PES, and improves anti-corrosion properties of the coatings.•The improvement of anti-corrosion prope rties of LTCC-PES/PTFE is a result of the further enhancing shielding effect. Low-temperature curing polyethersulfone (PES) coatings (LTCC-PES and LTCC-PES/PTFE) with excellent anti-corrosion properties have been successfully fabricated by introducing crosslinking agent. Water absorption of LTCC-PES is far lower than the common neat epoxy coatings, indicating LTCC-PES can display higher anti-corrosion properties. To further enhance the anti-corrosion properties of LTCC-PES, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is incorporated into LTCC-PES as filling agent to decrease the defects within LTCC-PES. Results show that LTCC-PES/PTFE exhibits lower water absorption and LTCC-PES/PTFE still possesses high anti-corrosion properties after long-term exposure to corrosive environment due to the further enhancing physical shielding effect of LTCC-PES/PTFE.
