Zusammenfassung: | The Senate passed the Greater Access to Affordable Pharmaceuticals Act (section 812) on July 31, 2002, approving amendments to patent laws to make generic drug options more available to US consumers. Currently manufacturers of brand name drugs are allowed to receive an automatic 30-month stay of generic drug approval while litigation concerning infringement of the patent is pending. The Greater Access to Affordable Pharmaceuticals Act would limit such extensions, allowing drug manufacturers just one 30-month stay. |
