Ninth Circuit upholds email service in infringement action against foreign web site operator

In Rio Properties, Inc. v. Rio International Interlink, The Ninth Circuit affirmed a district court decision authorizing email service of process on a foreign Internet Web site operator that allegedly infringed the rights of a US trademark owner, becoming the first federal appellate court to affirm the sufficiency of such service under the US Constitution and the Federal rules of Civil Procedure.
