Chemolithoautotrophic assimilation of dinitrogen by Streptomyces thermoautotrophicus UBT1: Identification of an unusual N(2)-fixing system

A study examined Streptomyces thermoautotrophicus UBT1's ability to utilize nitrogen dioxide as a sole nitrogen source when growing chemolithoautotrophically with carbon monoxide or hydrogen plus carbon dioxide under aerobic conditions. Several properties not found in other bacteria were discovered.
