Zusammenfassung:This article provides a selective overview of policy reflection and experience in the OECD area on the role of tertiary education in regional development. It briefly presents the orienttion of the OECD work in the education field as agreed by OECD Education Ministers at their April 2001 meeting and draws fully on the reports, findings and conclusions of that meeting and Secretariat work.
