An overview of the Revised North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct: An examination of the interests promoted and subordinated

Prior to July 24, 1997, when the North Carolina Supreme Court approved the Revised North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct, the professional conduct of North Carolina lawyers was governed by the North Carolina rules of Professional Conduct, enacted on October 7, 1985. A paper introduces the more significant revisions in the Revised Rules of Professional Conduct by examining the interests that are elevated and the interests that are suppressed by some of the more significant rules.
