Zusammenfassung:This paper presents the results of an experimental research which aim to improve performances of the wire electrical discharge machining (W-EDM), increasing the dimensional accuracy and decreasing the error of shape and the workpieces roughness. For this, the W-EDM machines were equipped with special devices for ultrasonic activation of the wire electrode. The wire electrode activation with ultrasonic vibrations overlaps across the effect energy, which initiates and occurs on the workpiece surface due to electrical discharge in pulse. It generates multiple effects in technological interstitium (gap). By partially or totally annihilating the influence of electromagnetic field between electrodes, the ultrasonic energy corrects the dimensional accuracy, the shape deviation, and the workpiece surface quality. The paper presents situations where short circuits are avoided and the experimental investigations were conducted under conditions that maximize the productivity of the technologic equipment.
