Zusammenfassung: | Activated carbon monolith was prepared using powder-activated carbon, methyl cellulose as organic binder, and bentonite as clay binder. The used organic binder contributed to the plasticity of powder-activated carbon for well extruding into well-shaped bodies, and the used clay binder contributed to the mechanical strength of the bodies. The bodies were characterized by determination of adsorption capacity, surface area, and mechanical strength (both compression and impact strengths). After that, it was endeavored to improve the mentioned properties by sieving powder-activated carbon into a uniform distribution of particle size. The obtained results illustrated that making the particle size uniform led to improving the bodies’ properties significantly. |
