Zusammenfassung:The present research tried to develop a simple procedure for preparation of highly-hydrophobic antibacterial fabric. Trichloro (octadecyl) silane (OTS) was chosen and coated on cotton by immersion method. Cotton surface hydrophilicity and roughness as well as chemical structure were evaluated by water contact angle test, SEM and FTIR, respectively. In best case, a super water-repellent fabric with a contact angle of around 140° was obtained. Adhesion of E. coli as Gram-negative and S. iniae as Gram-positive bacteria on the prepared highly-hydrophobic cotton was reduced about 60 % and 95 %, respectively, which indicated its outstanding antibacterial activity. Moreover, the obtained hydrophobic surface could inhibit platelets adhesion and represented remarkable blood compatibility. Consequently, the proposed method could lead to antibacterial and hemocompatible fabrics useful for a variety of biomedical applications.
