Zusammenfassung:It is reported for the first time an efficient protocol for indirect somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration for Jarilla heterophylla (Caricaceae). Initial explants were mature zygotic embryos obtained from seeds collected in two regions of the state of Jalisco, México (San Luis Soyatlán and Zacoalco de Torres). Two protocols for somatic embryogenesis used previously for Carica papaya were evaluated. The addition of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) to induction medium A1 without the addition of adenine hemisulphate yielded the best production of embryogenic callus with the higher total of somatic embryos per explant. With this protocol the plant regeneration process took about five months.
